Combining PDFs without desktop software

PDFs are the standard for document interchange—contracts, resumes, invoices, reports all travel as PDFs across industries. But PDF documents rarely exist in isolation. A proposal might combine a cover letter, company information, and service details. An application might merge bank statements with identity verification. Traditionally, merging PDFs required desktop software like Adobe Acrobat, costing hundreds of dollars. Now, browser-based tools handle it instantly, right in your browser, with no signup or download. You upload multiple PDFs, arrange them in order, and download a single combined file—all without leaving your tab. The merged file is created locally on your device; your documents never touch a server.

This tool merges unlimited PDFs in seconds. Drag and drop, arrange with arrow buttons, remove files you don't need, then download. Perfect for assembling applications, creating multi-part reports, or consolidating scanned documents before sharing. No watermarks, no page limits, no login required.

How PDF merging works

  • Page extraction: Each PDF is parsed, and all pages are extracted in order. A 10-page PDF and a 5-page PDF yield 15 pages total.
  • Order matters:Rearrange PDFs before merging using up/down buttons. The first PDF's pages appear first, then the second PDF's pages, and so on.
  • Client-side processing: Merging happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device or hit a server. Perfect for sensitive documents.
  • Page preservation:Formatting, fonts, images, and annotations in each PDF are preserved. Merging doesn't compress or alter content quality.
  • File size grows: The merged PDF is roughly the sum of input file sizes. If you merge a 5MB and 3MB PDF, expect ~8MB output. Download size depends on the content.

Common PDF merging scenarios

  • Job applications. Combine a cover letter, resume, portfolio samples, and supporting documents into a single PDF for submission to recruiters.
  • Invoice bundles. Merge monthly invoices, payment receipts, and statements for a complete financial record to send clients or tax authorities.
  • Scanned documents. When scanning multi-page documents on a phone, you get separate PDFs per page. Merge them back into one cohesive document.
  • Report assembly. Combine chapters, appendices, covers, and indexes into a single professional report document.
  • Contract packages. Merge multiple agreements, terms, and addenda into one package for signature or archival.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reorder PDFs after uploading?

Yes. Use the arrow buttons next to each PDF to move it up or down in the list. The final merge follows this order. You can also remove PDFs with the × button and re-upload them in a different order.

What's the maximum file size or number of PDFs?

Theoretically, you can merge as many PDFs as your browser memory allows. Most browsers handle dozens of large files fine. If you hit limits, merge in batches: merge PDFs 1–5, then merge PDFs 6–10, then merge those two results together.

Will the merged PDF have bookmarks or metadata?

The merged PDF preserves page content but doesn't carry over bookmarks (table of contents links) or custom metadata from source PDFs. If those are critical, use Adobe Acrobat for advanced features.

Is my data private?

Yes. All merging happens in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your PDFs never leave your device. You can even disconnect from the internet after uploading, and the merge will still work locally.
